FERC Posts Updated Filing Types

On November 17, 2011, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a notice under docket RM01-5 entitled “NOTICE OF CHANGES TO ETARIFF REFUND REPORT TYPE OF FILING CODES”.  The full text of the notice may be downloaded from eLibrary.  Below is a summary of the changes to eTariff filing types.

Filing Code: 670
Description: Refund Report
FERC Program: NGA Gas Pipelines
Changes: This filing code used to represent a Compliance-type filing and is being changed to a Report-type filing effective November 27, 2011.  As a result, “Marked Tariff” and “Clean Tariff” attachments will no longer be valid attachments starting on November 27, 2011.

Filing Code: 1190
Description: Refund Report
FERC Program: Federal Power Act Electric (Market Based Rate) Public Utilities
Changes: This is a new Report-type filing type intended for making refund reports pursuant to 18 CFR 35.19a(b) (2011).

Filing Code: 1200
Description: Refund Report
FERC Program: NGPA 311 Gas Pipelines
Changes: This is a new Report-type filing type intended for making refund reports pursuant to 18 CFR 284.123 and 284.224 (2011).

Filing Code: 1210
Description: Refund Report
FERC Program: Oil Pipelines
Changes: This is a new Report-type filing type intended for making refund reports pursuant to 18 CFR 340.1(c) (2011).

Impact to TariffShark

New TariffShark software releases that accommodate the FERC changes are available now.  We strongly recommend that you follow one of the upgrade paths described below.

If you’re running TariffShark Release 1.0 or 1.1.1

  • You may update to TariffShark Release 1.2.  If you do this, only the database and application server components are affected.
  • You may also update to TariffShark Release 2.2 or 3.2.  If you do this, all components (database server, application server, and desktop clients) must be updated.

If you’re running TariffShark Release 2.0 or 2.1.1

  • You may update to TariffShark Release 2.2.  If you do this, only the database and application server components are affected.
  • You may also update to TariffShark Release 3.2.  If you do this, all components (database server, application server, and desktop clients) must be updated.

If you’re running TariffShark Release 3.0 or 3.1.1

  • You may update to TariffShark Release 3.2.  Only the database and application server components are affected.

Hosted Customers

If your TariffShark servers are hosted by us, we will see that you are running the latest FERC-compliant server software on or before December 4, 2011.  The upgrade will be done during the regular maintenance window (weekdays after 7pm and before 7am…or on the weekend).

DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX FERC Attachment Support

As of November 1, 2011, TariffShark offers support for the following Microsoft Office 2007/2010 file formats as FERC Attachments:

  • DOCX: Word document
  • XLSX: Excel workbook
  • PPTX: PowerPoint presentation

This TariffShark update is provided as a database hotfix that works against any TariffShark database version.  By running the database script provided, your TariffShark installation will fully support the new FERC Attachment file formats.  This update does not affect TariffShark’s application server software or the TariffShark Premier client application.

Hosted TariffShark Customers

If you are a subscriber to Hosted TariffShark, our engineers have already updated your database, so you’re good to go.
